Looking to learn how to knit or brush up on the basics? Join us for this intimate workshop designed to give you a solid foundation of English-style knitting. With just four students per class, you’ll get plenty of one-on-one support as you learn and practice and gain confidence with your needles.

Knit a Drink Coaster, Hot Plate Trivet or Placemat

• Introduction to the long tail cast-on method

• Learn the knit stitch in English-style knitting

• Build comfort with yarn and needle handling

• Learn the purl stitch

• Finish with an in-pattern bind off

• Sew in the tails

By the end, you’ll have the skills to cast on, knit, purl, and finish your own beginner projects. Whether you’re brand new or haven’t picked up needles in years, this class will get you started (or restarted!) with confidence.

Required Materials - Start Building Your Knitting Kit!

• Circular Needles US Size 13 with a 16” cable —> IMPORTANT! If not using interchangeable needles, buy the 24” circular needle set since 8” are needles + 16” cable.

• 1 ball or cake of Super Bulky yarn —> IMPORTANT! If you purchased a skein or hank, please wind into a ball or cake before class (Note: Mystic has a ball winder and they are happy to wind your yarn for a small fee! Reach out to Mystic if you would like this service.)

• Stitch stoppers (that fit US Size 13 needles)

• Tapestry needle (with wide enough eye to thread Super Bulky yarn)

• Optional: Scissors 

• Optional: Crochet Fix-It Combo Hook & Needle

• Optional: Knitting kit bag to hold your knitting supplies
