Get ready for ski season and put your unique stamp on your winter wardrobe by knitting your very own hat! In this two-part class, you’ll learn the basics of knitting in the round, shaping a hat, and finishing it off with a handmade pompom. Plus, you’ll gain experience reading and following a knitting pattern that you can keep.
Class 1:
Cast on and get started
Knit the brim
Begin working the body of the hat
Class 2:
Finish knitting the body
Learn how to taper the top
Make your own pompom and attach it
Sew in the tails
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have the skills (and the hat!) to keep cozy all season long.
Materials List:
Circular Needles US Size 13 with 16” cable
1-2 balls (or cake) of Super Bulky yarn —> IMPORTANT! If you purchased a skein or hank, please wind into a ball or cake before class (Note: Mystic has a ball winder and they are happy to wind your yarn for a small fee! Reach out to Mystic if you would like this service.)
Stitch stoppers (that fit US Size 13 needles)
Stitch markers (that fit US Size 13 or larger)
Tapestry needle (with wide enough eye to thread Super Bulky yarn)
Scissors
