Experience: Beginner — Must know how to knit and purl

Create a treasure that will last a lifetime! Keep your favorite baby (human or fur baby!) warm this winter, snuggled in a cozy blanket handmade by you. In this 2-hour class, we’ll cast on and get you on your way knitting and purling.  Depending on the size of the blanket and your individual knitting speed, we may not finish the project in the class, but you’ll leave knowing how to finish your baby blanket at your own pace.  We’ll practice binding off on a sample swatch that you can take home with you for reference. Plus, you’ll gain experience reading and following a knitting pattern and reading yarn labels.

Required Supplies:

• Circular Needles US Size 11 or 13 with 29in/75cm cable 

• 4-6 balls or cakes of Bulky or Chunky yarn, depending on the length and width of the blanket you want to make. If you want to use two different colors (one color for the borders, a second color for the center), please buy 1 extra ball of the border color yarn to work the left side border —> IMPORTANT! If you purchased a skein or hank, please wind into a ball or cake before class (Note: Mystic has a ball winder and they are happy to wind your yarn for a small fee! • Needle stoppers (that fit US Size 11 or 13 needles)

• Tapestry needle (with wide enough eye to thread Bulky or Super Bulky yarn)

• Optional: Crochet Fix-It Combo Hook & Needle (highly recommended!)

• Optional: Stitch markers (that fit US Size 11 or larger)

• Optional: Scissors 

• Optional: Measuring tape

• Optional: Row counter

• Optional: Knitting kit bag to hold your knitting supplies
